Inks Lake State Park - swimming around

Another weekend, another state park! On Sunday we got up early and drove about 2 hours north and west to the north of the lakes surrounding Austin. We went for a hike and discovered that the dragonflies were not interested in us in the slightest, they couldn't even be bothered to fly away when we got close! They were, however, beautiful, and ENORMOUS!! I was very glad of them, eating up the annoying mozzies, therefore no bites on me that day.
This is about as high as it gets in the Hill Country:

Then we went for a swim at Devil's Waterhole, which had some cool cliffs over the water to jump from. No photos of this - sorry! We were having too much fun playing in the water.

We had a picnic once we had cooled off, and by then it was time to head back, through various small towns, each with their own water tower. We took this pic especially for Ross.

ps I don't know when the Oatmeal Festival is, but how many types of porridge do you think you can eat? I think I preferred the ice cream one!
