More first week photos

They are holding state elections at the moment - we love this name, it seems like it is taken out of the Simpsons, or an Adam Sandler film (Shooter McGavin, anyone?). If we could vote here, we would vote for him, and we don't even know anything about his policies!!

Ross, this one is for you, we haven't spotted any signs welcoming trouts, but as soon as we do, we will be sure to let Gill know.

. . . . and Helen, this is for you! I haven't been in yet, as I might have mentioned already, we are mostly just driving around malls doing admin, and occasionally Rich allows me to get out and make purchases at a Wal-mart. But as we drove past this one I couldn't resist taking a photo, and once I have more time I will investigate its wares!

Some (interesting?) photos from our first week!

This is just a pretty one from the SoCo area of town, about a mile or so north of where we will be living. I have only added it because the rest get weird from here on in! The next 2 are for Ray - can you believe we have seen a TR? The photos are not great, but I was trying to take them while Rich was driving!

This is a liquor store close to where our new apartment is - and it is owned (we think) by someone called Hill! Despite us seeing a few signs referring to the name Hill (there is a Hill's cafe just further north of here which is one of the cool live music venues of Austin) and King of the Hill being set just north of Austin, we are told it is a pretty unusual name for this neck of the woods

We have arrived!

So can you believe that this is the view out of our hotel window? Just in case we forgot we were in the US . . . .

I would love to show you some great shots of the best in tourist and natural attractions Austin has to offer . . . but we haven't visited them yet (although I am assured there are lots)! All we have done since we got here is admin, admin, admin, so no chance to visit many interesting places, but we have taken some photos on our travels. They probably won't make sense to all y'all (oops, I am turning into a Texan already) but hopefully these will get more interesting once our lives get more interesting (and less stressful!)
